Peter A. Hoffman
Senior Director

Peter Hoffman is a Senior Director in the Advisory Services group of MRV Consulting. Mr. Hoffman brings over 50 years of valuation and financial advisory experience to our clients, focusing on financial instrument valuations of alternative investments and illiquid assets, including complex financial structures, mezzanine debt, warrants, options, asset-backed securities, distressed securities, and mortgage-backed securities. 

 

Additionally, Mr. Hoffman has significant municipal account experience.  He was a Financial Advisor to the US Department of the Treasury, monitoring The City of New York’s financial problems. From 1981-1985, he was the senior partner responsible for Deloitte’s audit of New York City.

 

Before joining MRV Consulting, Mr. Hoffman worked at Deloitte and its predecessors, being his last role as managing partner for 10 years.  Mr. Hoffman was responsible for the Utility practice in the Tri-State Region (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) and served as the Neutral Fact Finder on engagements for the Illinois Commerce Commission.  He testified in front of the Commission.  His study was essential to promoting customer supplier choices as part of the deregulation process in the state.   Mr. Hoffman had final responsibility for the Deloitte insurance claims in 1993 (WTC bombing) and 2001-2002 (September 11 disaster), settling the latter claim for over $100 million.  

In 2001-2003, Mr. Hoffman headed a team working with the State of Israel to restructure the electric industry in the country.  In 1999, Mr. Hoffman led a team that rewrote the energy laws for the Turkish Government in Ankara, Turkey.
